I visited Brazilia in 1979, less than 20 years after it was built. This new capital of the country was built in the geographical center of Brasil where there had been no city before. It was built in the shape of a bird. Since Brazilians were very family oriented, very few people actually moved to the city. Most lawmakers commuted there. The result was a beautiful modern city with very few inhabitants.
